"Silent Wish" is an original pattern. Details of the quilt can be found here: [link]
I don't know how many hours were spent before finishing my quilt, all I know is I worked on it when time allowed for seven years. Hand pieced and hand quilted with fine threads such as gold. I originally made this for a contest that I missed , due to a divorce, a big change in my life being a single Mother. I was glad later, that I missed "Memories of Childhood" quilt contest, For the American Folk Art Museum in New York, for this quilt would not mean to me, what it does now, without the inspiration of my daughter, and loved ones to finish it. I hand painted a label, with fabric dyes, on the back with a short phrase of advice I found from the book, "Friendship's Offerings" By Susan McKelvey.
Look toward the sun and the shadows will fall behind you. Love, Mother
"Silent Wish" is dedicated: To my loving daughter, Elizabeth Stuart 1995
Thank you! 54"x45" I actually got my finger run over with a sewing machine needle once. And it was during a class I was teaching. Had to take the sewing machine apart to get my finger out. L.O.L. it least I am laughing now.
That is such a cringe-worthy story....oh, I don't know how I'd have kept my reserve, I guess having students around helps, otherwise I would have cursed up a storm even though I know better. That's so awful! What happened to your finger through all that?
Never felt it go through because the sewing machine was sewing so fast, it was pulling it out with pliers that got me. It was fine like an ear piercing a little hurt at first.
