Civil War reenactment, Taken in Moorpark California, at Tierra Rejada Ranch. Textures added in CS2, the smoke is comming from canons going off. You can see parts of them under the horses.

I did this image a while ago, and I am not sure what texturing I used on this. I do know it must have been several different ones combined, it looks like I did a push and pull with the history brush.
Back then that is what I used.
I see underneath one of the horses on the right side, you can see the cannon shooters and the smoke were not textured like the foreground. It looks like I should have textured that area which would have toned it down.
Too much detail there too close to the edge. I am sure I toned down the image using yellows and reds, those colors together look like sepia, then I bring back some of the original colors. Pushing and pulling again, pushing and pulling means that I put in a texture then erase a little where I do not want it, then add some textures back in. I call this push and pull. That term is also used in watercolor.

Great pix and the texture adds to it. It's amazing they let those take place out there. Do they get to fly their battle flags?
